Russian military commanders ordered soldiers to commit sexual violence in Ukraine, war crimes investigator say

– Russian commandos have been informed of the sexual assaults perpetrated by soldiers, says the war crimes investigator.

– In some cases, they permitted it or authorized it in some cases, legal expert Wayne Jordash told Reuters.

– The UN has reported dozens of reported cases of alleged rape perpetrated by Russian troops in Ukraine.

Russian commanders were aware of the sexual assaults committed by their staff in Ukraine and, in some cases, approved or even ordered the violence an official investigating war crimes has stated 

Wayne Jordash, a British lawyer who assists investigators in obtaining evidence of atrocities perpetrated by Russian forces in Ukraine 

told Reuters that some of the sexual violence "speaks to the planning of a more systematic basis." 

Jordash refused to give specific names of the people who he believes to be involved, as reported by Reuters, and stated that the level of the sexual assault was not known currently due to ongoing investigations
